Tehran Symphony & St. Petersburg Orchestra Collaboration — February 2025

On February 24, 2025, the Tehran Symphony Orchestra joined forces with the Modern Chamber Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic for a joint concert at Vahdat Hall in Tehran. The event was conducted by Yaroslav Zaboyarkin and was part of the cultural project “Musical Bridge: Tehran–St. Petersburg”, organized by the Rudaki Foundation in partnership with Russia’s Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.

The performance featured a diverse program, including Glinka’s Kamarinskaya and Valse-Fantaisie, Tchaikovsky’s Nocturne and Variations on a Rococo Theme, Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, and Elegy for Cello by Iranian composer Behzad Abdi.

Among the participating musicians was Alireza Motevaseli, who contributed to the concert as Associated Bassoonist with the Tehran Symphony Orchestra. His collaboration highlighted the depth of Iranian orchestral talent while reinforcing the concert’s mission to build cultural bridges through music.

This landmark cooperation brought together over 30 Russian artists and Iranian musicians, fostering artistic exchange and strengthening ties between the two countries’ musical traditions.
